Job Description
Are you passionate about marketing, technology and happen to also love the State of Maryland? Then this might be the perfect opportunity for you. We are looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to join the in-house marketing team at the Maryland Department of Commerce. Our team is focused on building the business brand for the State of Maryland. The marketing and integrated advertising campaign aims to attract businesses to move or expand in Maryland. We are a full-service marketing group that does a little bit of everything.
As the Digital Marketing Manager, you'd be responsible for building, maintaining, analyzing and optimizing digital marketing initiatives reaching the business community. This includes keeping sites up to date with accurate information, but also working with the Digital Content Manager to come up with creative new ways to convey our messages online. You'll be our lead for social community management, email marketing and paid digital advertising.
We are looking for someone who has experience producing original content for digital media and is comfortable with managing/analyzing paid media efforts. You must be eager to learn about the state's advantages and resources available for the business community. While a background in economic development is not required, it will be important to become immersed in the industry to understand how Maryland can stand out against other states/regions as we compete for attention from business owners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree - preferably in Marketing, Communications or related field
- 4 years professional experience in a marketing field
- Strong copywriting, proofreading and editing skills
- Understanding of content strategy, SEO and user experience design
- Experience managing an email marketing program
- Experience managing a social network
- Experience with the following platforms would be a plus: Wordpress, SharePoint, Django, KnackHQ, ArcGIS, Mailchimp, GovDelivery, Hootsuite, Google Ads, Google Analytics,
- General knowledge of how web code works is helpful
