The project or topic you would work on:

Join our team developing and operating an Enterprise Production Big Data Environment that is unique in Hungary! Work with one of Hungary's largest data assets to support the company’s data-driven operation.

As a Data Engineer at Starschema, you will bring business value for our clients through end-to-end development, optimization, and operation of automated reporting, data lakes, and related software platforms. You will use the latest technologies like Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, etc.

What will You do:

• Build and support data ingestion from various sources to the Data Lake (including Hadoop and Relational Data Warehouse also);
• Deploy code release in PROD;
• Participate in building unit/performance/integration tests working with database developers;
• Participate in database SQL optimization plan;
• Build dashboards for infrastructure management and reporting;
• Work closely with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and Data Scientists;
• Support and collaborate with colleagues;
• Design and deploy infrastructure management strategies to meet up time

We want to hear from you if You have:

• Solid background -minimum 2 years work experience - in Python and SQL;
• Experience and interest building data solutions using big data tools: Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Hadoop (Cloudera stack);
• Knowledge with data pipelines;
• Basic experience in Linux / Shell scripting;
• Has experience in engineering (commercial and open-source) software platforms and large-scale data infrastructures;
• Experience working with Cloud computing environments;
• Excellent communications skills in English (both written and oral);
• Intelligent, communicative team-player personality, interested in and willing to learn new skills and technologies.

It would be nice if you had experience with:

• Scala or Java programming languages;
• Workflow management tools;
• Impala technology;
• BI visualization field such as Power BI;
• TELCO technical domain.

Salary range. We believe in open communication and no BS. The final amount in your offer will depend on your expertise and professional experience. For this position we are targeting to hire colleagues who became mediors recently or who have a confident medior knowledge. Like this the salary range for medior level professionals is between gross 800,000 – 1,100,000 HUF/month approximately. In case someone has a more confident knowledge than a medior, the salary can go up to gross 1,200,000 Ft/month. We are open to interview senior experts as well.

Start date: As soon as possible – but if the right person comes along, we're willing to wait for you until you finish your notice period in your current workplace. 

Selection process

1. Phone conversation with our Recruiter - We will briefly talk about your motivation and experience and we will switch to English for a few questions.

2. Online test via Hackerrank - You will have to fill out our SQL and Python tests (it takes approximately two times 2 hours).

3. Video interview with the experts on the team. They will tell you more about the Data Engineering role at Starschema, and you will also talk about your professional background.
