Job Description
We are looking for a highly commercial and client-focused Advisory professional to contribute to revenue growth and market share expansion by providing strategic, future-focused advice to a portfolio of moderately complex clients. The successful candidate will originate, structure and execute bespoke advisory solutions that address clients’ unique business needs and strategic objectives, while driving value creation and maximising shareholder returns. Working collaboratively across Investment Banking and broader CIB teams, the role will support the achievement of revenue targets, strengthen client relationships, maintain market leadership, and reinforce the CIB Advisory franchise as the partner of choice for strategic corporate and transactional advice.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a trusted corporate finance advisor, driving sector and geography strategies by originating, structuring and executing franchise-enhancing transactions that grow Advisory market share, generate sustainable Investment Banking revenue and deliver exceptional client outcomes.
- Lead the end-to-end origination, structuring and execution of complex transactions, ensuring all workstreams are effectively coordinated, milestones are achieved and transactions are delivered within agreed timelines.
- Build and maintain senior client relationships, leading C-suite engagements, transaction updates and strategic discussions while managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring superior client experience throughout the deal lifecycle.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of compelling pitch books, strategic proposals and client presentations, leveraging market insights and expert recommendations to secure mandates and grow the transaction pipeline.
- Design and optimise transaction structures, including financial and capital solutions, while negotiating engagement letters, commercial terms, fees and legal agreements to maximise shareholder value and client outcomes.
- Lead and participate in transaction negotiations with clients and key internal and external stakeholders, coordinating deal execution and closing processes to achieve commercial objectives and successful transaction completion.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, governance, risk and business control requirements, driving stakeholder alignment and obtaining necessary approvals to facilitate efficient transaction execution.
- Develop and leverage strong internal and external networks to deepen market intelligence, identify emerging opportunities, strengthen deal flow and position CIB as the preferred Advisory partner.
- Review and provide expert oversight on financial models, valuations, transaction documentation and shareholder governance considerations, ensuring technical excellence and sound commercial decision-making.
- Lead, coach and develop high-performing teams, managing resource allocation across deal activity, fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture, and enhancing team capability to meet evolving client, sector and market demands.
Qualifications
Qualification: Degree in Business Commerce
Experience Required
Investment Banking
8-10 years
Ability to provide leadership, mentorship and supervision to team members.

Advanced experience in conducting, collating and reviewing detailed financial and / or valuation analysis and preparing client documentation (presentation books, management presentations, board materials, memoranda, and other presentation materials) for use in transactions. Sound knowledge of the Companies Act, Securities Regulation Panel Code, JSE Listings requirements and relevant Tax legislation as it pertains to financial and capital structuring advice.
8-10 years
Experience in applying project management practices to effectively manage multiple deals requiring multiple products. Experience in coordinating transactions and managing resources across deals.
