Job Description
Ensure that the Bank’s need to provide adequate controls over the risks encountered in the pre- and post-credit granting stage of Trade Finance credit processes are satisfied by verifying key documents and maintaining tight control over physical stock (Commodity/Inventory) counts, warehousing inspection and monitoring key distributors in line with approved parameters.
- Highlight Trade Finance Product risks to CMU Manager.
- Assist with comprehensive and robust monitoring, stock count and other activities of customers related to CMU in line with approved sanctions and various distributorship schemes.
- Assist with undertaking periodic and ad-hoc unannounced visits / spot checks to review client operations and provide a comprehensive status report as stated in approved sanctions, which must include identification of potential structural weakness in client operations
- Review Credit Risk Reports e.g. Damaged Control Report (DCR), Monitoring & Watchlist and Covenant Tracker and highlight risks or early warning signs of stress to the CMU Manager.
- Support in liaising with external agents, e.g. warehousing/collateral agents etc. on behalf of the Bank and act as a checker on their activities in line with executed service agreements. Reports will be duly provided for such activities.
- Assist in providing guidance and input in all Trade Finance deals (all products) applications prior to submission to Credit Evaluation Managers while simultaneously proceeding with validation of information and documentation provided by the customer.
- Verify documents and information in day-to-day work as delegated CMU Manager or as per Credit Evaluation Managers via Credit Sanctions within the approved turnaround time.
- Maintain close working relationships with internal and external service providers as well as internal stakeholders
- Drive effective people management & administration practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Accounting, or a related Agricultural discipline.
- Professional certification or accreditation in Credit, Risk Management, or any other relevant business-related field will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience in credit management across various lending products and customer segments.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of financial statement analysis, repayment structures, risk reporting, and collections processes within a banking environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing lending and collateral management.
- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.
