Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Static Data Analyst, Valuations to join our organisation in Johannesburg, South Africa. In this Contract position, you will be responsible for managing, analysing, and maintaining static datasets that support our valuation processes. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently with complex financial data to ensure accuracy and consistency across all valuation activities.
- Collect, validate, and maintain static datasets utilised in valuation models and analyses
- Perform comprehensive data quality checks and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of valuation data
- Analyse large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and discrepancies that may impact valuations
- Develop and maintain data documentation and modelling standards to ensure consistency across the organisation
- Create and maintain data dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility of key valuation metrics
- Support the valuation team by providing timely and accurate data analysis to inform decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver tailored analytical solutions
- Perform routine data maintenance tasks, including updates, cleansing, and archiving of historical datasets
- Identify opportunities to improve data processes and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency
- Ensure compliance with data governance policies and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating large datasets
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formula development
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI
- Minimum 1–3 years' experience in data analysis, financial analysis, or a related analytical role
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple datasets simultaneously
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modelling techniques
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience with Python or R programming languages
- Knowledge of valuation methodologies and financial modelling principles and Familiarity with database management systems and data warehousing concepts
- Experience working within the financial services or valuations sector
- Understanding of asset valuation methods and financial markets
- Experience with data governance frameworks and data quality management
