Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Team Leader for our Universal Banking division in Johannesburg, South Africa. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading and motivating a team of banking professionals, ensuring the delivery of exceptional universal banking services to our diverse clientele.

  • Lead and manage a team of universal banking professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
  • Oversee the delivery of a comprehensive range of banking products and services, including retail, commercial, and investment banking offerings
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and expand our client base
  • Monitor team performance, set targets, and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant banking regulations and internal policies
  • Analyse market trends and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve overall banking operations
  • Resolve complex customer issues and maintain strong relationships with key clients
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new banking products and services

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in banking or financial services, with a proven track record in team leadership
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years managing and driving a sales team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of universal banking products and services
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management in the banking sector
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels
  • Proven analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Proficiency in banking software and systems
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Professional banking certifications (e.g., Chartered Banker, Certified Banking & Credit Analyst) are highly desirable
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of other South African languages would be advantageous
