Job Description
SIA is a specialised corporate venturing team within Standard Bank that has a mandate to support business units across Standard Bank in sourcing technology solutions and, where appropriate, investing in potential partners that contribute to both the core and disruptive competitiveness of the Group.
To create financial models for potential investments and portfolio companies, analyse the performance of these companies, assess risks and model scenarios based on those risks. Further, the role will require project management of pipeline transactions from point of origination through to execution.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
A Post-graduate degree in Finance or Accounts or Economics or similar business degree.
Favorable if on route to qualify as a CA(SA), CIMA, CFA or similar professional body.
Experience:
- The role requires at least 3-4 years of investment analytical experience obtained at a respected financial institution. Industry experience is preferred.
Additional Information
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings with internal business sponsors and the target company monitor news flow relating to companies,
- Determine the appropriate risk factors inherent in the company, industry, region, etc. to determine a target price and potential investment return, accordingly calculate and quantify risks, evaluate qualitative information and determine the impact this would have on the investment.
- Ensure compliance with role specific and group-wide policies and procedures including regulatory and legislative frameworks.
- Evaluate the growth prospects and cash generation ability of the pipeline and portfolio companies over the next 5 years, analyse the companies for better understanding of the company as well as the industry in which the companies operate, provide an opinion on quality of management, determine the value of the company and profit drivers and set target price.
- Form and clearly articulate opinions on the potential of investment opportunities to Equity Risk Committees and actively participate in the debate as to the relative value opportunities available for the inclusion.
- Generate investment documentation for all potential investments, which will include the investment case, valuation, historical metrics, strategic rationale and business case from the BU sponsor.
- Project management of due diligence process requires co-ordination of internal specialists in the Group, potentially conducting the financial due diligence on the target, provide input from due diligence reports into legal agreements and monitor closure of any findings.
- Monitor and track performance of portfolio companies and provide input into portfolio reviews.
