Job Description

To meet delegated legal objectives such as case planning, development and management, legal research, drafting and analysing legal documents. Utilise technical knowledge to make recommendations to legal team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: First Degree
Field of Study: Legal/ Law or related field
Membership to a professional legal body will be an added advantage

Experience Required
Legal
Experience Required: 5-7 years
Proven experience in case planning, development and management, legal research, drafting and analysing legal documents, with at least 3 years within the legal and/or financial sectors.

Additional Information

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research case studies and legal precedent and assess the implications thereof so that the function's and industry knowledge may be leveraged.
  • Consult with internal clients to understand business requirements and provide sound legal advice pertaining to the drafting, vetting, review, dissemination and/or negotiation of standard legal documentation and processes, providing clear and accurate legal opinions based on sound judgement.
  • Conduct short- to medium term planning for effective delivery of solutions to problems identified; delivering "ready-to-go" legal recommendations to senior leader for signoff.
  • Make use of the available tools to support the management of legal risk, including but not limited to risk reporting so that risks are managed in a proactive manner; adhere to SBG legal risk polices when executing tasks.
  • Respond to business requests and appreciate client centricity through effective, efficient execution of transactions utilising technology.
  • Build and develop relationships across the different internal legal teams and with various stakeholders so that the business unit remains involved and aware of internal developments.
