The Square Appointments app helps service professionals manage their calendar on the go. With Square's online scheduling software, customers can always get access to their availability and confirm their appointments online. Our software is the point of sale for the merchants and a tool for them to manage their time. As an engineer on the Health & Beauty team, you will build products that are inspiring, meaningful and will change the economy we know today. You'll work with our product, design and engineering team to bring these ideas to life!

As an Android Engineer within the Health & Beauty team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the Appointments app on our custom hardware as well as standard Android devices. You will have direct responsibility for launching critical new features that help our merchants, across the world, manage their schedules, payments, employees and customers. 

You will:

• Build and test Android software with complex server, network and hardware interactions
• Craft intuitive UI that delights our customers with its ease of use
• Work with a world-class team of experienced and dedicated engineers, product managers, and designers
• Deliver features to our growing base of subscribers, shipped at a rapid cadence
• Be a part of creating an innovative product that brings superpowers to sellers
• Provide mentorship and guidance to other Android engineers

You Have: 

• 5+ years of Android (or mobile) development experience, and an excellent command of engineering fundamentals
• Excitement to continue to grow as app developer
• Commitment to customer experience and product quality
• Eagerness to share your own ideas, and openness to those of others
• A record of self-directed side projects, research, or open source contributions are a plus!

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $163,600 - USD $245,400
Zone B: USD $155,400 - USD $233,200
Zone C: USD $147,300 - USD $220,900
Zone D: USD $139,000 - USD $208,600
