The Cash Observability team is a foundational team that builds out the tools, services and infrastructure  that engineers at Cash trust in order to understand the behaviors and performance of the critical services, data stores and infrastructure that power Cash App.

The team is in a new stage of development where they are beginning to expand their scope beyond managing Observability tooling into new, related domains. You’ll work with the team and other functions across the company to help shape the future of the team while continuing to ensure developers across Cash can quickly ship high quality, reliable features.

We’re a distributed team of infrastructure engineers spread across North America, and we work directly with other engineers across the globe who rely on the systems that we build.

In this role you will:

• Develop and own best practices for monitoring services and distributed systems at scale

• Be actively involved in setting strategic direction and implementing an expanding roadmap

• Participate in code and design reviews to maintain our high development standards

• Evolve and improve existing backend systems to meet product iteration velocity while maintaining a high quality bar

• Work directly with engineers across the company to provide support and guidance in utilizing observability tools and systems

• Periodically be on-call for critical Observability systems 

You have:

• 3-5 years of software development or equivalent experience

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective remote collaboration skills with distributed teams

• A strong desire to collaborate with, learn from, and mentor others

• Experience working with cloud infrastructure

• Experience with infrastructure as code 

• Experience working with container schedulers and runtimes

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $163,600 - USD $245,400
Zone B: USD $155,400 - USD $233,200
Zone C: USD $147,300 - USD $220,900
Zone D: USD $139,000 - USD $208,600
