Job Description
The Cash App Product Compliance Team works across the organization to create Compliance strategies that promote the global growth and launch of Block products and services. These products and services are known to promote creative solutions to hard problems.
Block is looking for a Risk and Controls Analyst to work in the Product Risk and Controls team to promote and help grow CashApp. You will partner with your team to create the risk and compliance approach for the Cash App business, by providing subject-matter expertise in product and compliance control documentation as well as data analysis. This includes continuing to establish a risk and controls library, conducting controls gap analysis, and documenting controls mapping based on industry best practices, compliance policies and regulatory requirements. You will help ensure that we identify, assess and monitor and report on the appropriate product and compliance controls for all products in the Cash App ecosystem.You will partner with team members across Compliance, Governance, Risk Management, Operational Excellence, Product and Engineering teams.
You will report to our Product Risk and Controls Lead, Cash App and will play a pivotal role in helping to build compliant, world class digital products and features.
You Will:
- Contribute to the scoping, design and implementation of the existing Risk and Control program to build an efficient second line framework across Cash App products and systems
- Partner with Product Managers, Risk Management and Compliance to design and deliver product control solutions, tactically where required
- Work with Risk Management, Product Managers, Compliance, and Engineering to improve control enhancement programs, and investigate control failures
- Assist the Product Risk and Controls Lead with risk-based assessments and gap analyses of current Product and Compliance controls
- Ensure that relevant control standards and documentation are updated, and practices are considered for new products or changes
- Embed new controls into product and compliance dashboards
- Assist Product Risk and Control Lead to implement plans to evolve control framework including ongoing migration of detective controls to become preventative as well as manual processes becoming automated
- Partner with Cash App businesses to ensure compliance with relevant Block policies, also external regulatory expectations and industry standards where relevant
- Assist Engineering team in the understanding of control requirements to be used to validate control effectiveness through exception reports
- Review and report out on miscellaneous exception reports
Qualifications
You Have:
- 4+ relevant industry experience in risk management, business management, operational risk, middle office, product control or other relevant control functions, preferably from highly regulated financial institutions
- Strong understanding of risk frameworks and methodologies
- Proven ability to document risk and control language to appropriate industry standards
- An understanding and expertise in payments, Fraud, AML, products and related control principles.
- Experience building and implementing risk programs or frameworks
- Project management and strong relationship skills with cross functional partners
- A metrics-driven approach in communicating issues
- A track record of collaboration across different businesses, regions and teams
- Global mindset, with regional and global product understanding
- Advanced Excel (can perform complex functions), and database management skills
- SQL skills preferred, but not required
- Previous experience documenting model or engineering controls a plus

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $125,600 - USD $153,600
Zone B: USD $116,800 - USD $142,800
Zone C: USD $110,500 - USD $135,100
Zone D: USD $100,500 - USD $122,900
