Job Description
The Workday Integration team, architects, develops, and operates Block's HRIS system ensuring that it scales with the company. As an Integration Engineer your goal will be to help Block grow by building and scaling our HR business systems, Workday. Workday sits at the middle of all people data and integrates with dozens of internal applications and hundreds of external systems. As an Integration Engineer, you will contribute to re-imagining productivity by shipping transformative products that serve Block's employees and business groups. You will question common assumptions, rethink existing design, configurations, and see every challenge as an opportunity for system improvements. You will grow the business, evaluate current architecture, solve complex business problems for HR and Global Payroll and inspire the team to challenge the status quo.
You will:
- Be a subject matter expert on large collections of Workday Integrations
- Lead the research, development, testing, and delivery of new Workday Integrations
- Design and implement new integrations, procedures, and systems to improve the processing and flow of information within the company
- Research integration failures, perform root cause analyses, and report back to management and business leaders. Develop plans to more forward the Workday strategy for Block
- Shape integration architectural strategy for Workday
- Use JavaScript, WQL, XML, both SOAP and REST APIs, and set the standard for how we develop and roll out new integrations.
- Create up-to-date, functional and technical systems documentation for any customization and maintenance actions taken. Perform and document program unit tests based on sample data, stipulated functional test conditions and stipulated expected results; resolve any issues of functionality.
- Partner with stakeholders in our CorpEng, InfoSec, HR, and Payroll departments and third-party vendors to define requirements for how we create an ecosystem of integrated products.
Qualifications
You have:
- Bachelor's or Master's in Information Systems, Computer Science or other relevant degree
- 6+ years of experience as an Integration/Software Developer with increasing levels of responsibility
- 6+ years of proven experience leading and supporting Workday integrations through design, development, testing, configuration, and deployment.
- In-depth experience with Workday and working with Workday's object model.
- Experience with Workday Studio and Workday Extend
- At least one full implementation of Workday, with demonstrated Workday technical and integrations experience
- Can read and write technical documentation
- Experience with the setup and architecture of Workday
- Previous roles in a high growth, tech environment
- Lead cross-functional projects and interact at all levels
- Strong relationship building skills coupled with the ability to develop agreement

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $163,600 - USD $245,400
Zone B: USD $155,400 - USD $233,200
Zone C: USD $147,300 - USD $220,900
Zone D: USD $139,000 - USD $208,600
