Job Description

Proto is accelerating the world's transition to an open economy with products that increase access and independence for everyone. We're building Bitkey, a simple and safe self-custody bitcoin wallet that will put customers in control, as well as hardware and software that will help decentralize bitcoin mining and enable new and innovative use cases for bitcoin mining. As Proto's first Global Supply Manager based in Asia, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of electrical and mechanical commodities across all of Block's Hardware portfolio. You will manage supplier business relationships which include pricing and contract negotiations, component quality, forecasting, and supply assurance. You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies from a wide variety of component manufacturers. You will report to the Global Supply Manager Lead based in the U.S. 

You will:

  • Work cross-functionally with Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Product and Hardware Operations to achieve best-in-class supplier selection and qualification. 

  • Influence the product design by presenting cost-benefit analysis to cross functional teams

  • Own the sourcing strategy for key components. This includes vendor selection and relationship management, market intelligence on potential suppliers, monitoring vendor deliverables and schedules.

  • Work with suppliers to negotiate business terms and ensure Block receives the cost, quality and performance necessary for today's global market. 

  • Influence Block’s product roadmap and sourcing decisions.  Negotiate contracts (NDA, MSA, SOW and etc) with suppliers to achieve best in class cost, terms and conditions

  • Assess and mitigate risks to the business.  Manage global supply chain disruptions in real time.

  • Drive capacity planning, ramp readiness, yield, throughput improvement and issue resolution.

  • Create cost models, identify cost savings opportunities and negotiate cost reductions, RFQs, cost benchmarking.

  • Analyze technical and business risks and develop strategies for mitigation in a dynamic industry.

  • Project Manage timelines and drive suppliers to support Hardware Engineering during NPI

  • Travel ~25% 

Qualifications

You have:

  • 8+ years of experience in supply chain or commodity management with electronics components and custom design electro-mechanical modules

  • Experience working with High Power (>3kW) Power Supply 

  • Technical background (electrical engineering highly preferred) with experience in product development

  • Knowledge of and experience with, global supplier development & management, hardware development schedules and semiconductor manufacturing

  • Experience with cost benefits trade off and analysis 

  • The ability to develop and maintain relationships within Block's internal teams and suppliers' teams and management

  • A demonstrated ability to articulate complex manufacturing & supply chain concepts to business & engineering stakeholders

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Exceptional analytical, Google Suite and Excel skills

  • Exceptional relationship management skills for dealing with Block’s diverse supply base

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $180,000 - USD $270,000
Zone B: USD $171,000 - USD $256,600
Zone C: USD $162,000 - USD $243,000
Zone D: USD $153,000 - USD $229,600
