Job Description

As the Strategic Sourcing & Contract Manager in Technology, you will play a pivotal role in driving the organization's success through management of technology contract negotiations. Your primary responsibility will be to negotiate and consolidate robust technology agreements, including but not limited to Master Agreements, Enterprise Software & Cloud Agreements, Addendums, Order Forms, Statement of Works, NDA, Data Processing Agreement, Security Requirements, etc.  Leverage your industry knowledge and negotiation expertise, you will support initiatives to achieve positive ROI, mitigate risks, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and foster strong supplier relationships.  This will be an individual contributor role and will report to the IT Procurement Lead.

Contract Negotiation & Management:

  • Lead contract negotiation, ensuring agreements are favorable, cost-effective, minimal risks, compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Serve as a primary contract reviewer for Technology contracts (e.g. Master Agreements, Order Forms, Statement of Works, NDA, etc.), with a focus on Software & Cloud engagements

  • Collaborate with Commercial Legal, Sourcing Team, and internal stakeholders to drive contract consolidation to leverage global scale, minimize risks, and to drive efficiencies.

  • Assist with managing and organizing vendor’s contracts, update templates, and conduct research on preferred legal terms and negotiating positions.

  • Drive continuous improvement of supplier performance (e.g. cost, terms, quality, timely delivery).

Sourcing:

  • Support the development of enterprise-wide sourcing strategies for technology, incorporating supplier segmentation, risk profiles, and spend & cost analysis.

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, ensuring alignment with organizational needs.

  • Develop & execute various sourcing tactics, such as RFP/RFI/RFQ, E-auctions, supplier consolidation and benchmarking,  to negotiate favorable terms and achieve savings targets.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build and maintain relationships with peers, cross-functional partners, and internal stakeholders we serve at all organizational levels to earn the privilege of being a trusted advisor. 

  • Ability to drive discussions with leaders and resolution to open issues, bring forth innovative solutions, and drive collaboration on contract negotiation.

Team Collaboration:

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment on a global scale.

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience as a transactional paralegal, contracts negotiator, or contracts manager, sourcing manager, vendor manager, or equivalent experience

  • Substantial experience in contract review, structuring, consolidating, and drafting, as well as negotiating complex commercial and technology agreements

  • Strong proficiency in reviewing, redlining and negotiating MSA, order forms and other contractual agreements and knowledge of boilerplate legal concepts (i.e. Indemnity, Limit of Liability, etc), particularly in Enterprise Cloud & SaaS agreements.

  • Strong understanding of data analytics and the ability to leverage data-driven insights for decision-making.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $111,700 - USD $167,500
Zone B: USD $103,800 - USD $155,800
Zone C: USD $98,200 - USD $147,400
Zone D: USD $89,400 - USD $134,000
