Job Description

Block is looking for an experienced Financial Reporting Manager, reporting to our Head of Financial Reporting, with a primary focus on APAC financial reporting and technical accounting. The role is part of the Global Financial Reporting team and will be primarily responsible for preparing and coordinating aspects of the domestic and international statutory and regulatory reporting requirements for the Company. Additionally, this role will support the Global Financial Reporting team to assist in the filing of the 10-Qs / 10-Ks and various ad-hoc technical accounting projects.

This position can sit in our Melbourne or Sydney offices or be full-time remote from any part of Australia. 

You Will:

International Statutory Reporting 

  • Plan, coordinate, prepare, and review statutory financial statements, standalone as well as consolidated, for multiple international entities applying local GAAP / IFRS / US.GAAP accounting guidance 
  • Liaise with external auditors and cross functional teams such as international accounting, tax, legal, etc.
  • Research, evaluate and document technical accounting analysis conclusions and reporting implications, as well as other corporate accounting and reporting matters that may arise for various entities.
  • Help with special projects, technical accounting projects, and application of new accounting guidelines for statutory financial statements and the corporate consolidated level
  • Support preparation of Block group consolidated financial statements and audit as needed

Regulatory and Compliance Reporting 

  • Prepare various regulatory authority filings for Block’s APAC region of operations
  • Prepare various statistical surveys - this encompasses reporting to several government authorities such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Statistics NZ
  • Assist with quarterly and annual ad-hoc regulatory reporting requirements such as APRA

Close Processes

  • Assist with quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements, including compliance with financial reporting SOX control requirements
  • Assist the Block’s international accounting team with ad-hoc special research projects and accounting queries. 

Qualifications

You Have:

  • Familiarity with IFRS and US.GAAP reporting standards and with accounting standard setting projects (FASB & IASB)
  • 6+ years of financial reporting/ technical accounting experience working in large public multinational companies
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience preferred - Big 4 desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Familiarity with Oraclecloud, Hyperion/ Essbase, Workiva and Blackline
  • Experience interpreting new IFRS and local GAAP accounting guidance
  • Comfortable managing conflicting deadlines and working in a fast paced environment
  • Exceptionally strong financial reporting and analytical skills
  • CA or CPA qualified
