Backend Software Engineer - Content, TIDAL

  • Full-time

Company Description

TIDAL was founded for artists by artists as the next innovative streaming platform to bring value back to the music industry. We empower artists with the products, resources, services, and content required to take control of their careers and connect more deeply with fans. Available in over 60+ countries, TIDAL continues to help artists break down economic barriers to continue creating what’s next in culture. TIDAL is part of Block, Inc. (NYSE: SQ), a global technology company with a focus on financial services.

Job Description

The TIDAL Content Engineering team is a single standing unit in the TIDAL Engineering Organization, and it consists of two domains: one for the onboarding of record labels and distributors and the ingestion of their release deliveries (SIP), and one for the delivery of this metadata to our internal and external audiences (AMCD).

As we place a greater emphasis on artists, it is essential to elevate our attention towards artist and overall metadata quality. While our catalog has expanded through successful partnerships with distributors, labels, and third-party providers, we encounter inconsistencies in standards that lead to significant gaps in our artist database. We are now looking for a Software Engineer who will implement robust and proactive solutions to manage metadata effectively, facilitating the expansion of our database and the maintenance of quality standards.

You Will:

  • Plan, design, build and maintain solutions to improve our metadata quality and management
  • Experiment with new solutions and always look for innovative ways to improve our product.
  • Build solutions to support artist growth and financial empowerment
  • Belong to a diverse, energetic group of highly motivated developers who support each other and work together to solve problems in an agile manner.
  • Play a key role in planning/scoping of roadmaps and projects, from start to finish
  • Use your experience in software development and technical skills to advise teammates on best practices, technology, and architecture decisions.

Qualifications

You at least 5+ years experience with:

  • Java and Spring Boot
  • Cloud-native integrations (preferably AWS)
  • RESTful APIs and API-driven development
  • Event-driven architecture
  • Serverless and microservices
  • Docker
