Influencer Marketing Manager, Restaurants & Hospitality

  • Full-time
  • Alternate Location: New York, United States

Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Job Description

Square empowers Food & Drink businesses of all kinds to start, run, and grow their businesses through advanced workflows, specialized products, and business insights specific to them, while also leveraging Square's broader ecosystem. In short, we love restaurants (and other F&D businesses such as bars, food trucks) and the creative and business minds behind them. If you are a marketer who also loves this space and the personalities and trends around it, this may be just the role for you.

As Square’s first marketer fully dedicated to the Influencer discipline, you will build our muscle and motion in this important area for the Food & Drink vertical. Whether it is partnering with category thought leaders, content creators or - critically - influential Square sellers, you will leverage a diverse set of voices to help tell the story of our solutions and how they can help sellers of all sizes thrive. This is an individual contributor role with significant scale and impact realized in two key ways: First, you will act as a “COE” (center of excellence) for our marketing teams around the world. This means creating a scalable and best practice “playbook” for how we should engage, evaluate and assess/measure influencer partnerships. Second, you will personally own and drive our most strategic, highest profile influencer relationships in the US — from talent selection through to activation and measurement. You will report into the Brand & Integrated Marketing Lead.

You will:

  • Establish best practices for our approach to Influencer Marketing, including partner identification, compensation, management, collaboration, and measurement. As a key architect of our Center of Excellence for the influencer discipline, you’ll ensure our operating model and knowledge base in this area is not only innovative, but effective and efficient for the brand and business.
  • Identify key target relationships for “strategic level” F&D influencer partners in the US. These will comprise our largest investments in the space and serve as our longer term brand ambassadors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on influencer activations and deliverables that meet goals and objectives, such as events/appearances, content, and other media as informed by our operating model.
  • Serve as a thought partner to our country marketing teams who may seek light consulting on market-specific F&D influencer projects (outside the US).
  • Devise a strategy that facilitates diversity in the types of influencer partners that represent Square.
  • Develop deep relationships with relevant stakeholders in the company, ensuring perspectives are solicited, considered and synthesized into both our overall strategy and individual collaborations. This can include Integrated Marketing, Social, Content, Product Marketing and beyond.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of overall marketing experience
  • 2+ years of experience buying and managing talent/content in the digital space and interacting with influencers, agencies, and MCNs alike.
  • Know and love the F&D/Restaurants space (sellers and industry). This includes a strong understanding of influential personalities, industry culture and emerging trends.
  • Have deep experience in brand building, partnership management, and content marketing.
  • Have a proven track record of producing quality work from idea through execution that's on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrate powerful negotiation skills that benefit Square while maintaining healthy relationships with creators and talent managers.
  • Have proven ability to cultivate strong relationships based in mutual respect and trust with both internal and external partners.
  • Deeply understand and value the power of data in driving decision marketing. But you complement it with strong judgment and instinct.
  • Have stellar communication skills and can clearly communicate your ideas in both written and oral channels and forums.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Have deep expertise across key social media properties including, but not limited to, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, X, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, Snap, blogs, etc.
  • Have experience in B2B marketing, with exposure to small and medium-size businesses.
  • Have FinTech or Tech experience.
