Job Description

We are looking for a SIU (Special Investigations Unit) Compliance Analyst to join Block and support the continued buildout and evolution of our Cash App Compliance Financial Crimes team. The mission of the SIU team at Block is to investigate and file SARs on activity involving the most complex, high risk and/or highly sensitive case referrals on the Cash platform. The team serves as an escalation point internally for the Emerging Risk, Transaction Monitoring, SAR, and Abuse teams, and also investigates matters stemming from internal business partners as well as inquiries from law enforcement agencies. The SIU team’s main priority is to ensure the safety and soundness of the Cash ecosystem and maintain a healthy, compliant user base.

In this role, you will support the Cash App SIU team by effectively receiving and tracking all Cash and Square SAR supporting documentation requests from various law enforcement agencies, as well as provide law enforcement agencies with the necessary information and documentation surrounding their requests within the required 10 business day SLA. The role will also require the receiving and tracking of other various law enforcement inquiries, such as Keep Open Letters, National Security Letters, 314a requests, etc. from law enforcement, our Law Enforcement Response Team and other internal business partners. 

You will:

  • Monitor and act upon Cash App & Square SAR supporting documentation requests from law enforcement, filed by either the SIU or various SAR teams
  • Track and document each SAR request, in addition to other various law enforcement requests, and follow up with law enforcement for any additional inquiries
  • Support the broader SIU team and investigators with their casework by occasionally running SQL and Snowflake queries to provide necessary investigative data 
  • Effectively present key data and metrics to Financial Crime leaders and senior managers
  • Interact with internal stakeholders to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and policies
  • Work cross-functionally with Transaction Monitoring, SAR, Human Resources, Risk, Emerging Risk, Abuse, and other operations teams within Block and Cash App
  • Occasionally attend compliance-related seminars to stay abreast of the compliance industry

Qualifications

You have:

  • 2 years experience in KYC, transaction monitoring/compliance/AML with a financial institution or payment-focused company
  • Knowledge of BSA/AML regulations, risks, and typologies
  • Passion for Cash App/Block, and a strong interest in technology/knowledge of the industry
  • A strong operations mindset involving time sensitive directives and ability to self-manage workflow across competing priorities
  • An ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a drive to deliver outstanding results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Even Better:

  • Relevant industry certifications (CAMS, CFE, CFCS, CRCM)
  • Experience with SQL and/or Snowflake

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $41.30 - USD $50.43
Zone B: USD $38.37 - USD $46.92
Zone C: USD $35.10 - USD $42.88
Zone D: USD $30.96 - USD $37.88
