Job Description

The Trading and Securities Operations Manager will serve as a subject matter expert on all trading and securities functions, ensuring the smooth operation of daily tasks and the successful execution of strategic initiatives. This role requires a dynamic individual who can identify areas for process improvement, provide leadership to a dedicated team, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.

You will:

  • Operational Expertise & Process Improvement:
    • Serve as the subject matter expert on all trading and securities functions.
    • Identify and implement areas for operational enhancement.
    • Oversee and maintain quality controls, including monitoring of Pattern Day Trading, data quality in applications, and adherence to NIST Clock Sync.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and coach a dedicated team, setting clear expectations and establishing OKRs.
    • Delegate tasks and focus on personal development of team members.
  • Risk & Compliance Management:
    • Proactively identify, resolve, or escalate operational, reputational, regulatory, and financial risks.
    • Ensure the firm's compliance with FINRA, SEC, and other regulatory requirements, including Best Execution and Pattern Day Trading rules.
    • Monitor trading regulatory reports, such as those from FINRA CAT.
  • Policy, Procedure & Audit Support:
    • Create, maintain, and update written policies and procedures.
    • Provide timely assistance for both internal and external audits, including regulatory examinations.
  • Trade & Position Oversight:
    • Conduct regular reviews of trading activities and execute corporate actions.
    • Investigate and resolve daily position breaks in coordination with the clearing firm.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with various departments on Brokerage Operations initiatives, including new products and services
    • Manage customer escalations between Cash App, Cash App Investing, and external vendors.
    • Assist the Front and Back Office with trade-related research.
  • Incident & Outage Management:
    • Organize and lead efforts related to any Cash App Investing outages and subsequent remediations.

Qualifications

You have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM) are a plus.
  • 6+ years of experience in financial and/or operations within the broker-dealer industry, with a strong focus on trading and securities operations.
  • Highly collaborative leadership skills and a proven ability to build, lead, and manage a team
  • Must hold a current FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses. Series 57 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SEC and FINRA rules and regulations pertaining to broker-dealers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SQL, with the ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex queries.
  • Strong relationship building skills with leaders and technical teams & the ability to develop consensus and drive stakeholders to a decision
  • Shown ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and influence at all levels
  • A proactive yet curious attitude to your work.

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $152,100 - USD $185,900
Zone B: USD $141,500 - USD $172,900
Zone C: USD $133,800 - USD $163,600
Zone D: USD $121,700 - USD $148,700
