Job Description

The Account Takeover Risk Mitigation Lead will manage a team of high-performing specialists and investigators in identifying, preventing and mitigating fraudulent activity within the Cash App platform by providing consistent performance management, coaching and development by driving the team vision.  

This role will ensure their team is adequately and appropriately staffed, organized to address the most important work efficiently, and has appropriate guidelines and procedures to direct their work. In this role you are also responsible for monitoring the health of Risk Operations workflows and maintaining cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders across Cash Customer Operations (CCO) to ensure that high level functions and key objectives of their immediate and the larger organization are met. 

You Will: 

  • Manage a team of employees that triage, analyze, detect, and/or investigate alerts of potential external customer fraud, higher risk transactions, fraud claims, and suspicious and unusual activity.
  • Foster a performance based culture of productivity and accountability by coaching individual contributors to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including working with our Data Analytics team to ensure KPI reporting is up to date and accurate.
  • Partner with key cross-functional stakeholders through project involvement, presentations, and operational oversight and collaborate with peer Risk Mitigation Leads on major initiatives under the direction of Sr. Leadership.  
  • Ensure Policies & Procedures are comprehensive and in line with applicable internal, regulatory, and industry standards. 
  • Actively monitor volume inflows to work queues and regularly partner with stakeholders on our Workforce Management and Business Systems teams to ensure that staffing and tooling support is available to meet Service Level and Regulatory requirements.
  • Identify areas of improvement within Operations tooling or processes used to identify and mitigate fraud on the Cash App platform and work with key stakeholders to scope and enhance solutions. 
  • Understand and comply with applicable federal and state requirements for your areas of responsibility, and participate in regular and continuing training efforts.

Qualifications

You have: 

  • Experience:
      • 3+ years of experience in supervisory role on an operations team 
      • 5+ years of experience in fraud/ risk operations
  • Skill Set & Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of fraud in a financial services environment
    • Understanding of common payment and funds transfer methods and networks,   and liability rules for card networks, ACH network, check processing, wire transfers, etc
    • Familiar with operations and products commonly offered by financial institutions such as deposit products, payment card products, etc
    • Familiar with relevant banking laws and regulations

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the candidate's work location and may be may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $99,700
Zone B: USD $92,700
Zone C: USD $84,700
Zone D: USD $74,800

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
