Job Description

Cash App is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineering Manager to grow and scale a high-performing Business Intelligence engineering team focused on elevating our Third-Party Response (3PR) team’s capabilities through process, tooling, and automation. 

Your team will strategically partner with a variety of stakeholders across Cash App’s product, business, operations, and legal teams to identify opportunities to optimize data ingestion, ETLs, and reporting pipelines to scale effectiveness. You will directly manage cross-functional relationships with your stakeholder teams, stewarding the design, development, and maintenance of critical data pipelines. You will also be responsible for developing and scaling your team of Business Intelligence Engineers. 

The successful candidate will combine a passion for innovation and automation with the ability to build, engage, and retain a team of highly talented engineers. Ideally, this person will have worked in a similar role and will feel comfortable interacting with other stakeholders and senior management on a regular basis.

 

You Will:

  • Proactively drive the vision for Business Intelligence Engineering across a product or business vertical, and define and execute a plan to achieve that vision
  • Develop and Maintain a collection of high-leverage “Supported Self-Service” dashboards and visualizations for core stakeholders
  • Define the operational excellence processes for Business Intelligence Engineering, including project management and system reliability
  • Develop and recruit for a high impact Business Intelligence Engineering team and design that team to scale
  • Strategically partner with multiple internal teams including Product, Legal, Compliance, Data Science, and Customer Operations, among others
  • Manage individual projects by coordinating directly with the company’s internal data teams
  • Set and hold your team to a high bar: has a proven track record of driving results of engineering teams in highly-regulated, high-stress, fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

  • Advanced SQL: schema and ETL design, query optimization, data pipeline maintenance, data visualization platforms (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Mode)
  • Familiarity with scripting/programming for data mining, modeling, and ETL development (Python preferred)
  • Ability to proactively define the long-term vision and strategy that will offer the correct data to support our external data requests, unlocking key data visibility and insights
  • Bachelor's degree required, with major in Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, or other technical field strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of data engineering experience in product/support analytics and business operations
  • 2+ years experience in people management

Bonus: 

  • Experience in leading engineering teams responsible for external data reporting
  • Experience working with Legal & Counsel stakeholders

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400
