Job Description

In 2020, we launched Cash by Cash App, a cut-and-sew line of apparel designed and developed fully in-house. Everything starts with a concept and sketches, and we work closely with technicians to get the fit right, and source all of the materials and trims ourselves. We’re looking to bring on a dedicated dual Art Director/Designer who will lead our overall brand, direct campaigns, design marketing assets, and execute the graphic design vision for the  apparel.

The ideal candidate has broad design and illustration skills in a variety of styles with experience designing graphics for apparel. You should also have experience (or willingness for) studying fashion trends season by season. You will also art direct photoshoots and create campaign assets, including social and paid. You will work closely with our business, marketing, and apparel design team to create the look and feel of the brand and apparel.

You will:

  • Lead the vision and execution of the Cash by Cash App brand, including how we show up through our apparel, photography, and all brand touchpoints
  • Art direct photoshoots for campaigns, ecommerce, and social media
  • Develop concepts and design logo and graphic treatments for our apparel. You will be responsible for designing all artwork for 4-6 collections and capsules per year.
  • Work closely with our technical designer to get artwork production-ready
  • Create assets for marketing use, including emails, social, and paid media
  • Oversee the look-and-feel of our ecommerce website
  • Collaborate with our experiential marketing and PR teams to art direct launch events and pop-ups
  • Work on a highly collaborative and fast-paced team that spans across business, marketing, apparel design, and technical product development.
  • Immerse yourself in fashion, fashion trends, and fashion campaign work in order to maintain Cash by Cash App as a relevant voice in the space
  • Work with the broader Cash App design and brand marketing teams to ensure Cash by Cash App is connected and ties back to Cash App overall
  • Works as a partner to writers, developing concepts collaboratively
  • Present work to broader Cash App leadership and have the ability to intake and apply feedback, and ability to push back when necessary

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of design and art direction experience, especially at a fashion or fashion adjacent company
  • Proven track record and expertise in conceptualizing and directing photo and video shoots with stylistic variety; excellent at scouting and working with skilled photographers and videographers
  • A portfolio of work that demonstrates a wide range of graphic design and illustration abilities, and fashion art direction
  • Executional excellence both as a hands on designer, and leading internal and freelance creatives
  • Ability to communicate brand vision and guidelines to external agencies, partners, and other creatives
  • A keen interest in fashion and creating a multi-faceted fashion brand that expresses the Cash App brand tone and visual identity

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500
Zone B: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500
Zone C: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500
Zone D: USD $245,100 - USD $299,500
