To solve this problem, we expanded into software and built integrated solutions to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Ecosystem Engagement team is responsible for the seller experience by providing useful business metrics in the Home page, cohesive navigation / search experience between multiple Square products and visibility into new products to the Sellers. This means that our team owns the personalization of the seller's dashboard home page as well.  

There is an increasing interest from our sellers,  on getting these metrics,  reports and some key features for mobile use cases. We are seeking a talented Senior Android  Engineer to join the Ecosystem engagement team to help us  build the Android app that will provide value to our sellers about their business and engage the sellers with our Square ecosystem.

You will:

• Plan and execute cross-functional projects to deliver remarkable solutions that improve seller experience
• Extend and maintain cohesive user experiences on Square dashboard app.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the company, including product, design, and other engineering teams
• Mentor other engineers through design reviews and pair programming

Technologies we use and teach:

• Java or Kotlin
• Workflow, Compose and all of Square’s open source Android stack (okhttp, dagger, anvil, retrofit, paparazzi)

Qualifications

You have:

• Have at least 5+ years of experience working in the Android ecosystem.
• Be proficient in Java and / or Kotlin for development (we use both).
• Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and whatever's in between.
• Ability to breakdown complex requirements into components / deliverable milestones 
• Have an eagerness to share your ideas, and openness to those of others. Quickly and easily articulate issues and what needs to be done to resolve them
