Finance & Strategy improves financial and operational decision-making across Block. There are two Finance & Strategy Director roles: Hardware AND Customer Success: 

Hardware

The Hardware organization within Square develop and distributes the physical devices that help sellers start, run, and grow their businesses and participate in the economy. It is an important part of our suite of offerings that aim to provide a full service offering that help sellers (merchants) make informed decisions on their orders, inventory, locations, employees, and customers. 

Customer Success

The Customer Success team works with Square sellers by phone, messaging and email to solve problems, demonstrate how to get the most out of Square, and always improve our Square products by giving feedback to Square Product teams. The Customer Success team also builds community platforms and services that allow Square sellers to self-serve answers to common questions before reaching out to a customer advocate.

Both positions can sit in any US Block office or be 100% remote from any US state with the exception of Alaska.

You will: 

  • Report directly into the Head of Finance & Strategy for Square's Go-To-Market Function

  • Be the primary finance partner for the Head of Hardware and Customer Success respectively

  • Manage a team, providing the necessary coaching and structure to ensure it continues to operate at a high level

  • Oversee Business Review processes, facilitating relevant conversations with Square leadership teams

  • Lead a team to 1) create analyses that facilitate clear decision-making, 2) forecast performance, including short- and long-term trends, 3) surface strategic insights, and 4) help inform Square’s investment capacity

  • Lead, high visibility projects requiring cross functional support and analytical support

Qualifications

You have:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including investment banking or strategic finance
  • Advanced proficiency in excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets)
  • Experience maintaining a high-performing team through hiring and coaching
  • Commitment to Square’s purpose of Economic Empowerment

Even better:

  • Experience with SQL or comfort working with large datasets
  • Experience with software, internet, or financial technology industry

Additional Information

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone B: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone C: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone D: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
