Job Description

Our Global Corporate Communications team communicates to the world Block’s purpose of economic empowerment and the need for our businesses to create tools to help expand access to the economy for our diverse audiences of sellers, individuals, artists, fans and developers.

We are looking for an International Corporate Communications Associate, to be based in Ireland. Reporting to the Head of International Communications and based in Ireland, you will work with the international communications team to support our strategic communications needs around the world. You will provide support across all non-US geographies, with a specific focus on the LATAM region. Therefore Spanish or Portuguese language skills would be beneficial.

You’ll help develop a strategy for engagement with media across Block and our multiple teams, (with the exception of Square, which has its own communications team). You will build relationships, track media narratives, pitch proactive stories and deal with reactive issues, ensuring that Block’s vision of economic empowerment is well represented across a broad range of earned media. We are looking for creativity.

You Will:

  • Work with the Head of International Corporate Communications, the APAC Communications Lead and the EMEA Communications Lead to provide team-level support, such as maintaining media and speaking databases, messaging documents and launch schedules.
  • Onboard new PR agency partners and other vendors. Work with procurement and accounts payable teams to ensure smooth operation of contractor relationships.
  • Become a source of truth for understanding the footprint of Block’s teams and new programs in all of our non-US markets. Coordinate internal approval from partners, across multiple departments and foundational teams.
  • Pitch proactive stories to the media to meet Block’s global communications goals.
  • Maintain media relationships on behalf of Block across business, financial, and technology press in LATAM and other emerging markets.
  • Translate and localize media materials for non English speaking media.
  • Develop written materials, including company messaging and statements, press releases, communications plans, FAQs, and other collateral.
  • Collaborate with teams across Block, including finance, investor relations, legal, and corporate development teams, and partners within Square, Cash App, TIDAL and TBD.

You Have:

  • 4+ years’ experience in communications at a PR agency or in-house communications team.
  • Previous experience with a financial tech or publicly-traded company.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • The ability to summarise complex concepts to create messages that are consistent but tailored to multiple audiences.
  • Experience working in an evolving environment.
  • Curiosity and belief that work can (and should!) be fun.
