Job Description

The Global Advertising organization is the newest growth engine for Block’s Afterpay & Cash App business. We lead the strategy and operations for these existing Ads & Affiliates payments businesses and we commercialize the emerging products that will drive future revenue.  Our ambitious team develops go-to-market strategy for our commercial products, builds and grows effective partnerships with the largest brands in the world, and sells our existing products into new verticals. We are looking for an experienced Strategy and Business Operations Lead to build and lead a team driving critical results.

The Business Operations team lead will develop data-based insights that maximize the effectiveness of our Ads & Affiliates business teams. You will develop data-based insights to optimize our current commercial businesses and build go-to-market strategies for our business lines. You’ll set and track progress against strategic goals and deliver recommendations on key decisions to senior leadership. You’ll report into the Head of the Global Ads & Affiliates  organization and partner closely with Block’s Enterprise leadership team as well as cross-functional leads.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing strategy teams, advising senior leadership, and leveraging quantitative and qualitative information to develop business strategy. This leader should know how to coordinate effectively with internal cross-functional partners and have deep expertise in sales operations, business economics, and P&Ls. 

You will:

  • Develop perspective on trends in the digital advertising industry and clearly articulate insights to educate key stakeholders
  • Manage and support sales forecasting, pipeline analysis, annual planning, and sales cadence
  • Show impact of advertising business and cross functional initiatives on overall Marketplace business for executive leadership
  • Assist in the development of advertising long-term strategy definition 
  • Create strategies and define commercial tactics to grow revenue, active customers, product adoption and sales productivity
  • Support sales leadership by driving critical projects and strategic initiatives to support revenue growth, including cross-functional work streams
  • Identify education and tooling needs for the Sales team and work with other cross-functional team members to address
  • Triangulate, validate, and summarize key messages across disparate sources, synthesize findings into meaningful insights, and identify opportunities most relevant for the business and various stakeholders
  • Partner closely with analytics team to manage key metrics, dashboards, and escalations
  • Own efforts to standardize and/or evaluate ad-hoc processes around organizational cadence
  • Develop strategies for sales & partnerships team to maximize on new revenue opportunities
  • Build and lead future expanded team

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of proven experience in partnerships or sales, sales operations and/or advertising business & revenue operations management
  • Strong understanding of the digital advertising ecosystem 
  • Ability to conduct complex and creative analytics of data and translate the results into actionable insights, deliverables, messages, and proposals
  • Experience in using data analytics systems (i.e. Tableau), CRM, and SQL
  • Experience in leading the development of GTM & segmentation strategies across advertising 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior leaders
  • Proactive, curious individual who is full of grit and loves to find solutions to problems, rather than avoiding them
  • Self-motivated, competitive individual with the ability to work fast & smart

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone B: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone C: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300
Zone D: USD $222,800 - USD $272,300

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
