Job Description
Block is looking for a Physical Security Technology and Systems Engineer to serve as an internal subject matter expert in physical security technology and systems. This is an important role on Block’s security team, and reports directly to the Global GSOC and Security Technology Lead. You will help ensure our ability to deliver security services to the enterprise, and will help develop our long-term strategy, centered on business enablement. Working collaboratively, you will implement and manage security technology and systems that protect Block’s people, assets and reputation across the globe. This is a collaborative position and will partner with the GSOC, along with other internal sub-teams in service to the broader Trust & Safety mission.
You will be based in St. Louis, MO.
You Will:
Be the physical security technology subject matter expert across several security technology platforms, including:
Access Control Systems
Configure, administer and troubleshoot security systems and hardware
Visitor Management
Video Surveillance
Key management
Artificial Intelligence and advanced camera and intrusion and detection systems analytics
Communication platforms, including intercoms
Document basic governance, policies, and technical solutions for main security technology systems.
Design preventative maintenance, upgrades, and end-of-life replacement routines for all security technology hardware and software.
Discern and communicate important metrics that demonstrate security value.
Build trusting relationships with team members and business partners.
Support new office build designs and installation projects, partnering with teams.
Be responsible for Vendor Management including:
Lead RFP processes.
Build meaningful relationships with security integrators and partner technology providers.
Evaluate security technology integrator performance and provide overarching management of security technology systems integrated into the Block network.
Qualifications
You Have:
5 years’ experience driving security technology solutions
Understanding of cyber security requirements, particularly as they relate to physical security systems and devices.
High level of information technology competency (G-suite, MacOS)
Ability to navigate between strategic thinking and tactical solutions.
Demonstrated curiosity and a growth mindset; foster an environment that supports learning, innovation, and principled risk-taking
The ability to think and maintain a holistic perspective that considers data, analytics, and different parts of the business when making plans and shaping the team's strategy.
Even Better:
Certifications such as CPP/PSP/PMP/CSPM/CompTIA.
You have experience administering a network.
You have hands-on low voltage systems experience.
Demonstrated networking skills or certification(s) are a huge plus.
Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $114,200 - USD $139,600
Zone B: USD $106,200 - USD $129,800
Zone C: USD $97,100 - USD $118,700
Zone D: USD $85,700 - USD $104,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
