Product Lead, Cash for Business

  • Full-time

Company Description

It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay, to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 47 million monthly active customers. We want to redefine the world’s relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible. This is our mission, and it’s why working at Cash App means so much more than a job.

Today, Cash App has thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We’ve been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.

Job Description

We’re hiring a Product Lead to join the Commerce team, supporting our Cash for Business (C4B) Product.

As shared in earnings reports, Commerce is one of the top three investments of Cash App to further connect the Cash App and Square ecosystems. The mission of Cash for Business is to make Cash App the most accessible and preferred destination for anyone to become a mobile-first seller. We currently support millions of microsellers and mobile-native SMBs across the US. Cash for Business is the easiest way to get paid for selling goods or services by millions of people using Cash App.

We're seeking an exceptional Product Leader to help re-invent Cash for Business (C4B) by launching a mix of transformative, highly complex, “0 to 1” new features and ongoing improvements. Our north star is Gross Payment Volume (GPV). We have an ambitious set of multi-year bets. We're seeking an experienced leader to turn ideas into a concrete roadmap and to own decision-making on complex trade-offs that balance design considerations, technical cost, and business value.

You will be the de facto team leader to achieve results in the face of setbacks or roadblocks, but also be an IC rolling up your sleeves to lead day-to-day execution.

You will:

  • Work on complex issues spanning payment and account functionality to boost transaction volume, account health, and activity.  You will drive product decision-making and execution, requiring cross-BU platform support, with several different ENG & product teams.  With minimal guidance, you will own thorny problems, grappling with trade-offs with significant strategic / business impact.
  • Lead a team of Designers, Server & Client ENG, and XFN to set the product direction and write precise requirements that accelerate design exploration & technical readiness to build.
  • Drive clarity within a team, with supporting platform teams, and upwards to Commerce and Cash Wide Product leadership.
  • You will own product decisions & outcomes, but need to exercise influence over cross-product dependencies, resourcing, and reporting.
  • Create, manage, and revise product roadmaps & backlogs that span 12-18 months

Qualifications

You have:

  • 8+ years of product or relevant experience
  • Track record as a product owner who has shipped high-impact experiences, ideally trained in first-tier, mobile-first environments
  • Product sense and design sensibilities to deliver features with the craft and consumer-grade simplicity of Cash App
  • Bonus for expertise in financial services, SMB category, or leading consumer social / commerce
  • Strong customer empathy and experience shaping product strategy & execution based on customer needs
  • Diverse experience with 0 → 1 initiatives as well as with optimizing existing products
  • MBA or Consulting experience is welcome–but your product track record is the priority
