Job Description

The Compliance Governance and Reporting (CGR) team manages key components of Block’s Compliance Risk Management Framework and is part of Global Policy and Governance (GPG) within Block Compliance.  With a focus on Block’s Compliance Risk Management Framework, the CGR team has responsibility for the following functions: Policy Governance, Training, Compliance Risk Management including Advisory, Issues Management and Reporting.  As part of Block’s overarching Compliance Risk Framework the team manages Block’s GRC tooling, systems and procedures.

As a Compliance Governance Program Manager within the CGR team you will be responsible for Block’s Issues Management Program.  In particular, and as a component of Block’s Compliance Risk Management Framework, you will develop and maintain this Program across Block, supporting the timely identification, assessment, management and reporting of issues, uplift efforts and remediation activity.  The role will work closely with other members of the CGR team, and you will be given opportunities to learn and develop your experience in other areas of the CGR function.  You will also work with other Compliance teams to promote and support consistency and adoption of the Issues Management and broader Compliance Risk Management framework.

This role is a 100% remote in the United States.

You will:

  • Develop, oversee and maintain the Block Issues Management Program and processes. 
  • Monitor, track and report the end to end management of issues identified across Block
  • Work with legal teams in the research and assessment of relevant laws and regulations and work with GPG, Product Compliance Managers together with the Business, and Legal to provide regulatory guidance and interpretation
  • Additionally, as a Compliance Risk Management expert, you will advise and communicate complex legal and regulatory concepts in an audience-appropriate manner
  • Work with various stakeholders across Block, including Internal Audit, Legal, and other Compliance team members such as Product Compliance Managers and Regional Compliance Leads to coordinate, manage and support consistency with the Compliance Risk Management framework
  • Conduct and implement ongoing enhancements to Block’s Compliance Programs

Qualifications

You have:

  • Minimum three years of work experience in a project management-based role
  • 5 or more years of experience in compliance risk management in a regulated financial services environment
  • 3 or more years of people management experience
  • Applied risk management concepts (e.g. COSO, three lines of defense)
  • Understanding and working with data analytics teams to develop analytics based stories consumable to a broad range of audiences, including Board members
  • Expertise in at least one of the following subject-matter areas: BSA/AML/sanctions, consumer lending, consumer protection, or payments
  • Experience with international compliance requirements and programs
  • Experience developing end to end compliance risk management programs
  • Experience in coaching, motivating and developing teams
  • A strong analytical approach to create substantiated solutions
  • Clear written skills
  • Adaptability in an agile and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with team members of all levels, and cross-functional partners
  • A mindset to deliver results proactively, resourcefully, and methodically.

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CAMS, CRCM, CFE)
  • Domain expertise in data analytics and visualization platforms
  • Implementation experience with GRC tools (e.g. RSA Archer, SAI Global, Protecht) in large complex organizations.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $152,100 - USD $185,900
Zone B: USD $141,500 - USD $172,900
Zone C: USD $133,800 - USD $163,600
Zone D: USD $121,700 - USD $148,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
