The Block Brand and Purpose team mixes creative, comms, social, and data to build the Block brand and communicate our purpose of economic empowerment. We’re curious, quirky, quick-witted designers, writers, strategists, technologists, analysts, and economists who work on everything from big brand campaigns to deep data analysis.
We’re looking for a Senior 3D motion designer to join our Block Studio Team, a newly formed in-house design studio that's tasked with delivering best-in-class 3D motion design and visual storytelling services to all the businesses across the Block organization. You will be part of a focused, design driven team where you will conceptualize ideas and help bring them to life through 3D animation. We’re looking for an experienced, thoughtful motion designer who is a good collaborator, great communicator and feels comfortable working on all phases of the production pipeline. You will create design based projects for all the business units across Block and will report to the Block Studio Lead.
You will:
Demonstrate an expertise in typography, composition, layout, design thinking, and content strategy in the design solutions you create
Work with team members to help conceptualize and execute animation projects for all our social platforms
Work on projects from ideation and design through implementation, in partnership with our creative team
Translate brand strategy into powerful and purposeful creative concepts
Design graphic concepts, assets, and visual treatments for various channels
Elevate brand aesthetics while supporting overall brand direction
Work with partners across Block to guarantee an integrated brand experience
Work with designers, copywriters, communications associates, data analysts, engineers, partners, and creative leadership
Juggle a mix of large and small projects, often with overlapping priority and urgency
Qualifications
You have:
6 years of agency or freelance experience
Proficiency with Cinema 4D, Redshift, and Adobe Creative Suite
Familiarity with Figma
Experience working on all parts of the production pipeline (design, animation, compositing)
A portfolio of work that displays proficiency in design, animation, storytelling, color, and compositing
Experience working cross-functionally to launch integrated marketing campaigns
Familiarity with both new and traditional brand channels and media
Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a commission plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
