Job Description
The Cash App Network Operations Team is responsible for building and managing a scalable payments ecosystem for a fast growing mobile payment app with multiple external and internal partners. Reporting to the Payment Optimization Lead, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that our payments systems are compliant with network and regulatory rules, and that we are prepared and proactively engaged with our partners on changes in the financial ecosystem. You will be working collaboratively with our finance, data science, engineering, risk, and compliance teams to innovate, problem solve, and report on strategic impacts to our business by combining our data with your domain knowledge. You’ll bring important learnings and influence to other teams internally at Cash App, as well as our external partners. We will rely on you to advocate for our business with partner compliance and rules teams to ensure a healthy payments ecosystem for our customers and our partners, finding new innovative solutions that position Cash App for future success and growth.
You will:
Be the expert in all things network rules and regulatory frameworks impacting Cash App’s acquiring business.
Interpret rules and regulations into technical, product, and program requirements to be applied in various Cash App products.
Analyze, develop, and deploy sophisticated payment optimization strategies across Cash App’s products and services that meet our external partners’ and ecosystem requirements.
Drive external partners to resolve identified gaps, examine opportunities, and make recommendations to balance cost and payment performance.
Triage, intake, and analysis of changes to rules and regulations that impact Cash App’s business and customers.
Partner and collaborate internally across multiple stakeholders to scope, influence, and drive implementation of new payment ideas and opportunities.
Use data and expertise to build compelling narratives that communicate ideas and opportunities to gain buy in and build alignment, with both internal and external partners.
Be a proactive executor and have a bias to action, working autonomously and with our engineering partners to jump into the details and problem solve.
Qualifications
You have:
8+ years of experience within payments and/or fintech.
Strong understanding of the end-to-end payments ecosystem, including payment methods, card networks, acquiring and processing, and the regulatory environment.
Familiarity with payment card brand rules and their interpretations across issuers, acquirers, and merchants.
Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Engineering to identify, evaluate, and size opportunities in order to effectively prioritize work.
Experience driving continuous improvement projects, where you’ve applied deep knowledge to uncover and execute both short and long term optimizations.
Exposure to and experience working with multiple external partners in the payments supply chain.
Strong business analytic skills, including the ability to use data to drive and influence business requirements
Excellent business acumen, communication skills, and self starting attitude.
Familiarity with analytics platforms (Tableau, Looker, Mode), expert in a spreadsheet (Google Docs, Excel), SQL skills strongly preferred.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $174,900 - USD $213,700
Zone C: USD $165,700 - USD $202,500
Zone D: USD $156,400 - USD $191,200
