Job Description
As a Hardware Release Manager, you will join the Quality, Release and Infrastructure team responsible for the software release process across the entire hardware product line to ensure our sellers and their customers have a remarkable experience through periodic releases. A successful Release Manager creates predictability for engineering and product teams to plan software changes and uses data to connect the seller experience with Square's mission.
You will:
- Manage daily operations: cut branches, facilitate the closure of important bugs, deploy software, monitor metrics, communicate schedule statuses to partners.
- Lead the release schedule and advise on the roll out strategy for new features and firmware updates for all hardware products.
- Promote the release process and partner with engineering to ship releases.
- Refine the release manager ecosystem: Identify ways for the next release to be more stable earlier in the release process, automate manual tasks and think from an elevated perspective about how all processes can be made more efficient.
- Collaborate with quality engineers, software developers, product managers, program managers, and other release managers.
- Collaborate with EPMs, PMs, and Customer Success teams to work through roll out of features and software updates.

Additional Information
Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $138,200 - USD $169,000
Zone B: USD $131,300 - USD $160,500
Zone C: USD $124,400 - USD $152,000
Zone D: USD $117,500 - USD $143,700

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
