Job Description

Developer Experience is the team focused on what Cash Engineers need to do their day to day job. All the tooling required to efficiently develop, test and deploy their code into production. We lean heavily on best of breed open source Developer Tooling, Languages, Libraries, Frameworks, as well as partnering with vendors to deliver a world-class Development Experience that is reliable, scalable, and a joy for Cash’s engineers to use, to ship product features rapidly while balancing all the rigour and security expected from a financial platform. We think of the Developer Experience as a product in its own right, where all of Cash Engineering are our customers.

We are looking for a DX Product Manager with a software engineering background, to help us hone our customer-centric thinking and work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure we provide the best possible platform for our engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Ideation: Work closely with DX engineers and engineering managers to promote the most relevant ideas into features
  • Roadmapping: Work closely with Product Engineering (our “customers”) and DX engineers and engineering managers to plan and prioritize what, and when, the platform teams will deliver
  • Features: Understand Product Engineering needs by conducting surveys, interviews, and other information-gathering exercises
  • Vision: Work closely with DX engineers and engineering managers to define product vision for the organisation
  • Rollouts: Work with Product Engineering and DX engineers and engineering managers to conduct rollouts to deliver a complete customer experience, including scheduling office hours and communicating rollout progress 
  • Understand success: Work with Product Engineering to measure levels of satisfaction, work with DX engineers and engineering managers to define and set SLIs and SLOs, and hold engineering teams accountable to SLOs and delivery
  • Evangelization: Socialize DX’s work with Product Engineering teams to drive adoption
  • Working with vendors: Participate in vendor selection and evaluation

Qualifications

You have:

  • 10+ years of work experience, with at least 3 in Product Management
  • A humble and scrappy get-it-done mindset
  • Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to independently lay out and test clear hypotheses, and solve problems without well-defined direction
  • Experience working with engineers as customers, in developer tools, APIs other developer productivity products
  • Solid understanding of Cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills; ability to inspire team members
  • Experience with the common challenges in cross-functional working groups, including balancing competing demands and priorities
  • Strong customer empathy and experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs
  • Self-motivation and a proactive attitude with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
  • Experience working within a distributed team
  • A software engineering background is preferred

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400
