Job Description
Cash App is looking for a Senior Product Data Scientist with a deep interest and passion for bitcoin and data to join our Crypto team. The Crypto team’s mission is to empower individuals across the world by providing financial services based on bitcoin and other digital assets.
Cash App became the first public company to launch bitcoin purchases in 2018 and since then we’ve added a full ecosystem of bitcoin products you’ll be supporting, from bitcoin buy/sell to novel technologies like the lightning network. Because you will work with bitcoin data across multiple touchpoints (internal systems, blockchain, lightning network, etc.) a solid understanding of how these technologies function and demonstrated experience/interest working with this data is a big plus.
As a Senior Product Data Scientist Cash App Crypto you will:
Partner directly with product managers, engineers, and designers on the Crypto team to identify new product opportunities and optimize existing products through data insights
Work directly with blockchain and lightning network data to track and optimize the performance of our external crypto payments over those networks
Analyze large datasets using SQL and scripting languages to surface meaningful/actionable insights and opportunities to the product team and other key stakeholders
Approach problems from first principles, using a variety of statistical and mathematical modeling techniques to research and understand customer behavior
Design and analyze A/B test experiments to evaluate the impact of changes we make to the product
Work with engineers to log new, useful data sources as we build new product features
Build, forecast, and report on metrics that drive strategy and facilitate decision making for key business initiatives
Write code to effectively process, cleanse, and combine data sources in unique and useful ways, often resulting in curated ETL datasets that are easily used by the broader team
Build and share data visualizations and self-serve dashboards for your product team
Effectively communicate your work with team leads and cross-functional stakeholders on a regular basis
Qualifications
6+ years of data science and analytics experience in industry
Deep interest and passion for bitcoin and blockchain data
A graduate degree in physics, economics, statistics, or a similar STEM field, or a bachelor’s degree and significant relevant experience
Experience with scripting and data analysis programming languages, such as Python or R
Advanced proficiency with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Mode, etc)
Experience with cohort and funnel analyses, a deep understanding statistical concepts such as selection bias, probability distributions, and conditional probabilities
Experience in a high-growth tech environment
An appreciation for the connection between your work and the experience it delivers to customers
Intellectual curiosity and a passion for what Cash App is building

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Zone A: USD $184,100 - USD $225,000
Zone B: USD $174,900 - USD $213,700
Zone C: USD $165,700 - USD $202,500
Zone D: USD $156,400 - USD $191,200
