Job Description

The Opportunity

Afterpay’s Global Marketing Science team is looking for an experienced Marketing Data Science leader. This team works closely with partners across the marketing function to personalize, measure and improve our ability to acquire, activate and retain customers.

 

You will lead a team of Marketing Data scientists working across the entire marketing funnel and across all marketing channels in a wide range of marketing domains, using data science tools and techniques to tackle the opportunities and challenges Afterpay has.

 

You will collaborate with senior team members to deliver data science projects from scope and problem formulation to recommendations and implementation. You will be a trusted thought partner of our growth and marketing teams and we strive to make an impact and help deliver OKRs.

  • Work closely with the Marketing team to understand and deliver their data science, analytics and insights needs.

  • Lead a team of experienced marketing Data Scientists, including goal setting and career development

  • Set the Global Marketing Science team roadmap. Manage and effectively prioritize the pipeline of requests.

  • Lead the design of models, analyses and reports that provide insights that enable the marketing team to understand marketing performance, create personalized experiences and improve marketing strategy.

  • Visualize and articulate data science projects to an executive audience and external partners.

  • Lead the development of methodologies/frameworks that accurately assess and measure the impact of our business strategy

  • Support targeted business activities, including opportunities for product and process improvement with a focus on driving significant business growth.

  • Lead the design, execution and analysis of A/B and multivariate tests.

  • Monitor the quality and integrity of marketing reports/dashboards/pipelines and troubleshoot issues that arise

Qualifications

  • Quantitative background in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or related disciplines

  • 7+ years experience in data science or analytical roles, including 2+ years team leadership, using techniques such as customer profiling, A/B testing, ROI measurement, predictive modeling, regression and classification analyses.

  • Good marketing domain knowledge across channels such as Paid Social, Email/Push, SEO/SEM, TV, Radio, Out-Of-Home

  • Proficient using SQL and Python to extract, manipulate, analyze and model large volumes of data

  • Ability to do statistical analyses without guidance including descriptive and inferential techniques

  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker or PowerBI.

  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills, combined with effective judgment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously effectively, with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $202,500 - USD $247,500
Zone B: USD $192,400 - USD $235,200
Zone C: USD $182,300 - USD $222,800
Zone D: USD $172,200 - USD $210,400

This role is also eligible to participate in Block's equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
