As a Software Engineer on the Issuing team you'll be responsible for engineering parts of the Instore product that has been launched in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States. This product enables our consumers to use the Afterpay virtual card in participating stores. We’ve seen huge success in the Instore application across all regions and we are looking to continue our expansion globally. The team moves quickly and makes brave product decisions, this is the perfect opportunity for a Senior Engineer looking for an exciting global project.

You will:

• Work as a team in designing, building, and owning the services which includes building web applications and working with complex distributed systems
• Collaborate with product managers, data analysts, data scientists on planning and implementing frictionless user experiences
• Own features and functions throughout their lifecycle from inception, rollout, launch, scale and iteration
• Work in cross-functional Product teams responsible for the discovery, delivery and validation of product features via microservices, APIs, web-apps
• Work with the software engineering team following our software development principles guided by the Staff Engineers and Engineering Managers. It will also be expected that you help drive and perfect these principles.

• Ideally experience on architecting large scale distributed system
• 2+ years of Experience in building and maintaining applications that utilize a modern programming language (Java/Kotlin preferred)
• Familiarity with popular technologies, for example Spring boot, Hibernate, gRPC, Kafka, Flink, Redis, Cassandra and so on
• Enthusiastic about solving business problems with technology and can take ownership of an end-to-end solution
• Passionate about continuously learning new technologies, frameworks, and services
• Possess an execution mindset and the ability to deliver with cross-functional teams that are globally distributed
• Exceptional written and verbal technical communication skills
