Job Description
Square Invoices is the easiest way for merchants to close sales and collect payments remotely. Our customers rely on our products because they are well designed, easy to use, and integrated with their business. We focus on building the best tools to help our merchants close sales and get paid quickly, anywhere, at any time. At the same time we are doing this in an efficient and scalable way, making smart choices about how to automate critical functions for our merchants. We are a full stack, product oriented team, spanning across engineering, design, product, and marketing. Our team is focused, fast-moving, and rapidly growing with an abundance of growth and impact opportunities.
As an Engineering Manager on the team, you will be responsible for overseeing and growing our core Invoicing product / platform that’s utilized by hundreds of thousands of merchants and developers across the world to process billions of dollars in payments each year. You will work with engineering leaders across the company, collaborate with world class product managers and designers, and contribute to the long term success of our organization and Square. We’re proud to have built an exceptional team of engineers who are just getting started – and as their manager, you will help guide the way.
Responsibilities
Build and grow an amazing team by hiring exceptional talent, coaching and developing your team, cultivating pragmatic engineering decision-making, and leveraging your technical expertise to consistently raise the bar.
Set the technical direction and vision for your team and inspire and motivate them to do their best work.
Lead your team to build systems, services, and product features across multiple platforms that delight our merchants.
Drive your team to meet ambitious product and growth goals.
Ensure successful project execution through careful planning, organization, and ownership of your team’s development processes.
Qualifications
BA / BS degree in computer science or equivalent practical working experience.
8+ years of software development experience.
3+ years of experience managing teams with 10+ engineers.
Strong technical background in developing products and services. Demonstrated, first hand experience building products or platforms at scale.
Great communicator (both verbal and written) and ability to work cross-functionally with other functions, such as designers, product managers, data scientists, marketing, and business development.
Experience collaborating across teams to drive large scale projects and initiatives to successful outcomes.
Ability to lead and cultivate a sense of ownership and accountability within the team.
Ability to provide technical mentorship and guidance to your team.
