Job Description
We are looking for a Business Operations Manager to join our Hardware Operations team. The individual is experienced in managing commercial relationships with contract manufacturers (ODM/OEM) for hardware products. You will be responsible for establishing long term contract manufacturing strategy by investigating current risk with supply chain partners, investigating potential global contract manufacturers, and creating best practices for negotiating manufacturing value-add. You will support sourcing strategies and have a proven track record in cost negotiation and supply chain management. Understanding manufacturing processes and having a keen interest in developing risk management strategies and managing business relationships is necessary.
You will:
- Think long term about the changing world and supply chain landscape to develop and execute global contract manufacturing strategies for all hardware products
- Establish a partnership selection criteria and execute the process of evaluating and on-boarding new manufacturing partners
- Establish best practices for managing contract manufacturing partner MVA and BOM cost under Block’s preferred engagement model
- Negotiate and execute master contracts and Statements of Work with vendors
- Collaborate with internal Accounting and Finance & Strategy teams to own the end-to-end cost management solution for Hardware
- Lead and conduct Quarterly Business Review with key partners to evaluate on-going performance across engineering development, operational excellence, and cost competitiveness
- Work cross functionally with Product Design, Product Team, Hardware Engineering, and Hardware Operations to achieve outstanding supplier selection and qualification
- Travel internationally ~20% mostly within Asia
Qualifications
- 8+ years of industry experience
- A demonstrated ability to articulate complex manufacturing and supply chain concepts to business and engineering stakeholders
- Deep understanding of hardware manufacturing processes and a thorough approach in developing risk management strategies in a dynamic global supply chain
- Experience with investigating potential global contract manufacturers and awarding business through vendor surveys, audits, RFi/RFQ, and negotiating MSA contracts
- Experience with building MVA cost analysis tools
- Experience working in CM and JDM development models
- Budget management experience
- Contract negotiation experience
- Acute attention to detail and are results-oriented
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multinational environments
