Sales Strategy & Operations Manager

  • Full-time

Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

To solve this problem, we expanded into software and built integrated solutions to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Job Description

If sales is the engine that drives our business’s growth, the Sales Strategy & Operations team is the grease in the gears. We operate at the intersection of Afterpay’s Enterprise Sales org and our partners on product, marketing, analytics, research, risk, and customer service, leveraging our strong cross-functional capabilities to ensure that the business continues to prioritize activities that grow our merchant network. We are strategists and diagnosticians in equal measure, identifying unlocks to sign new merchant deals and break into new industries while resolving points of friction in the existing seller and merchant experiences along the way.

We are looking for a Sales Strategy & Operations Manager to own the planning, execution, and measurement of new sales-led initiatives for Afterpay’s rapidly growing North American Enterprise team. This person will take on an array of special projects that will require them to build internal and external relationships, decisioning frameworks, business processes, documentation, and more so an entrepreneurial approach is critical to this role.

  • Validate New Products and Programs—Drive the sizing, testing, and analysis of net new sales-led initiatives (examples include evolutions to our existing suite of payments products, new service models, and new internal tooling). Develop recommendations to scale successful efforts and oversee their operationalization across the US and Canadian markets with consideration for nuances between verticals, regions, etc.

  • Establish New Disciplines—Introduce improvements to the current seller experience in the form of new resources, training, and forums for collaboration.

  • Identify Opportunities for Improvement—As the business has scaled rapidly, we’ve outgrown some of our historical ways of working. In this role you will diagnose pain points and work across teams to introduce improvements.

  • Make Data-led Decisions—Manage the collection and synthesis of insights (qualitative and quantitative) to inform the Strategic Initiatives team’s areas of focus and support KPI reporting for team projects

  • Be the Team’s Advocate—Offer general Enterprise team advocacy, ensuring the team and our merchants’ needs are represented at all relevant cross-functional decision points and in all prioritization exercises
