Job Description

We’re going to make sending money as easy as sending an email — and we’re doing it all in the open. We know the best innovations on the web were born in public. They’ve been built with a diverse community of innovators – people willing to question how the internet can better connect us. This time, we want a more equitable economy.

As our Open Source Contributor Experience Lead, it’ll be your job to establish, grow, and advocate for one of the most important young communities in the world. We’re gaining momentum with our developing projects, and it’s critical that they are cared for. Our contributors deserve world-class programs, infrastructure, and tools to keep them connected and moving forward. Every single member of our community deserves an excellent experience, to feel valued and welcomed at every stage of their journey.

This is a multidisciplinary role in which you’ll be able to pull from your experience in strategy, community building, technical problem-solving, marketing, and program management. We don’t expect you’ll have dedicated history in each of these backgrounds, but you have likely shown impressive technical leadership developing public initiatives that put people first. You:

  • Believe that good technology is made by great people with excellent relationships.

  • Know how to protect communities to encourage contributions of all types, from varied perspectives.

  • Recognize that diversity in a community is its superpower.

  • Want to help technical project leads connect with their users and contributors.

  • Are excited to guide, and learn from, our open source engineers.

  • Will excel collaborating with various teams such as Developer Relations, Brand, Technical Partnerships, and others throughout TBD to deliver for our public contributors and surface their needs internally.

  • Appreciate the many forms of contribution beyond code and have ideas how to to encourage them.

  • Are excited to create an open source program that’s a model to the industry.

Qualifications

  • You’re experienced; you have 12+ years in open source or community organizing environments.

  • You devise strategy and bring it to life - you know how to focus on what’s needed and how to operationalize it to get there

  • You’ve built community development efforts and have a toolbox of techniques to get results

  • You enjoy getting hands on keyboards by applying technical solutions to policies and strategies you devise.

  • You have earned opinions on inclusive community development and are willing to fight for how they’re upheld in practice.

  • You have a vision for a comprehensive program - one that pulls together learning materials, documentation, API guides, tutorials, examples, events, and the tooling and processes which support them.

  • You know how to scale yourself and your expertise to build a collaborative team and evolve our open culture.
