Square Appointments helps service professionals manage their calendar on the go. With Square’s online scheduling software, customers can always get access to their availability and confirm their appointments seamlessly online. Our merchants can easily keep their schedules open and attract new business—even when they're done for the day.

Our team is focused on building and scaling our Bookings platform, including the Bookings API. The Bookings platform lets developers and industry partners create online-booking applications for users to book services provided by Square sellers. You will help ship new API features that meet our developers and sellers needs. Additionally, you will be a part of ensuring that our software infrastructure can scale appropriately to support the growing Appointments’ customer base. 

You Will: 

• Work closely with other engineers and product managers to design and build world-class product experiences
• Collaborate and participate in the architecture of our backend systems
• Contribute, evaluate and pitch new technologies for Appointments engineering to adopt
• Hold yourself accountable to the standards of engineering and ethics that enable Square to safely move billions of dollars in payments and allow our customers to trust us with their sensitive data
• Participate in the development of features which may include API design, implementation, automated testing, and rollout

Languages and technologies we use and teach:

• Languages: Ruby, Java
• Frameworks: Rails, RSpec, Sidekiq, gRPC, Guice
• Infrastructure: MySQL, Redis, Kafka

You Have: 

• Pursuing degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related technical field, graduating May 2023 or later. Recent bootcamp graduates and engineering training participants are also considered within six months of completing program/training requirements
• Programming experience in one or more object-oriented languages such as: Java, Ruby
• Square internships are 12-weeks and co-op placements are 15 weeks, available for Fall 2022
