iOS Software Engineer, Invoices
- Full-time
- Alternate Location: Salt Lake City, United States
Company Description
Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to make a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.
Today, we partner with sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, and merchants who began selling with Square and have grown more significant. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions, and we all grow together.
There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Square Invoices is the easiest way for merchants to close sales and collect payments remotely. Our customers rely on our products because they are well designed, easy to use, and integrated with their business. We focus on building the best tools to help our merchants close sales and get paid quickly, anywhere, at any time. At the same time we are doing this in an efficient and scalable way, making smart choices about how to automate critical functions for our merchants. We are a full stack, product oriented team, spanning across engineering, design, product, and marketing. Our team is focused, fast-moving, and rapidly growing with an abundance of growth and impact opportunities.
As a member of the Invoices mobile team, you will work within Square’s Point of Sale codebase and have the ability to impact all of the apps in our ecosystem including our Invoices app.
You’ll need to…
Be proficient in Swift and/or Objective C for development.
Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces and whatever’s in between.
Build high availability and highly resilient systems which can accept and report payments no matter the network or device conditions.
Collaborate with iOS, Android, and Server engineers to ship features.
Work with product managers and designers to communicate and provide feedback on product features.
Respond to customer feedback to improve our products.
Qualifications
You have:
2+ years professional experience in mobile software engineering
Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with other functions, such as designers, product managers, data scientists, marketing, and business development to deliver a great product
An appreciation for the connection between the software you build and the experience it delivers to customers
The ability to adapt to the different stages of product development. This can mean building intentionally scrappy code for the benefit of iterating quickly, or building a sustainable system that will support our product for years to come.
Demonstrated, first hand experience working to build and improve products. A plus if at enterprise scale.
