We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Inventory, Visibility & Attestation team, as part of Security & Privacy Foundations. Our mission is to understand how data is protected within Block in all stages of the data lifecycle.

You should expect to:

• Design and develop services or infrastructure that support data visibility, governance, and protection initiatives across Block’s engineering ecosystem

• Help define the technological future of data protection at Square

• Collaborate with other engineering teams to support them towards data visibility, governance, and protection goals

• Contribute to the monitoring and stability of our team’s existing engineering solutions

Some qualifications you may have:

• 3+ years of software engineering experience

• A high bar for writing quality scalable, robust, and testable code

• Willingness to learn new technologies or languages

• Ability to cut across services, infrastructure, or frameworks in novel ways to achieve security and privacy goals

• A desire to perform and grow technically as an engineer or engineering leader

• Strong communication skills

As a bonus, you may have experience or interest in:

• Designing novel yet robust security or privacy architectures

• Data inventory, catalog, discovery, lineage and/or classification systems at scale

• Developing or maintaining services or processes to meet data governance needs

• Designing novel ways to understand and surface data flow, access control, and risk
