Job Description

The Corporate Compliance team's objective is to further Block’s mission of economic empowerment while keeping bad actors from using our platform. You will support the Global Head of Sanctions in identifying and mitigating enterprise-level program risk to help us achieve these goals.

As the Global Sanctions Risk Manager, you are an experienced and motivated compliance practitioner, able to support and develop the inclusive growth of a team of compliance professionals. You will combat sanctions risk across the organization by using tools and analyzing data to drive truly innovative decisions for the Global Sanctions Compliance Program.

You Will:

  • Assist in the completion of annual and ad-hoc risk assessments, in addition to drafting gap analyses and action plans that mitigate the identified risks. 
  • Develop, coordinate, and scale a risk-based response plan that addresses new risks introduced to the program. Communicate situation reports to impacted stakeholders, initiate root cause analysis, and develop action plans to address the risk.  
  • Identify and communicate economic sanctions risk metrics to the Board, CCO, and relevant stakeholders (Business Units).
  • Communicate reject/block transaction reports and file annual regulatory reporting. Develop, maintain, and manage a scalable reporting program, with a focus on timely and accurate reporting to OFAC and when applicable coordinate with International Leads to assist in reporting to non-OFAC regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and maintain Block’s country risk assessment program to meet the needs of stakeholders across the Compliance organization. 

Qualifications

You Have:

  • 4+ years economic sanctions experience 
  • 3+ years experience in identifying risk (analyzing and accounting/mitigating for risk)
  • 3 years as a project or program manager with experience in international markets
  • Experience drafting and maintaining global program content within a highly regulated environment

  • Experience using technology to guide scalable solutions in the global sanctions compliance space
