Creative Director, Square for Beauty

  • Full-time
  • Alternate Location: New York, United States

Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

Square is looking for a passionate Creative Director to lead our "Appointments" creative team, also known as Square for Beauty. This is an exciting team to be part of. Beauty and other forthcoming segments within Appointments are growing quickly which means the creative team is doubling in size in 2022, and has high-budget awareness campaigns to build. Beauty is an aesthetically-inspired audience, and our creative work needs to be beautiful, inspiring, and culturally relevant.

You will work with the Group Creative Director to set the creative strategy, direction, voice, and personality of Square for Beauty and other future Appointments solutions. You will direct creative work across Square's public web, owned channels, integrated campaigns, and performance marketing for your areas of focus, and work with other creative teams on cross-product campaigns.

You will directly manage an experienced creative team to include art direction, interactive and visual design, and copywriters. You will work regularly with partners in video, photography, production, engineering, and operations. Importantly, you will continue to build upon a culture that motivates this team to achieve creative excellence across a variety of media including web, email, film, video, digital, print, direct mail, retail, and events. You will enhance the creative work to meet the ambition of the brand while delivering outstanding results.

You will work with our marketing partners (product marketing, insights, brand, and channel marketing leads) to develop creative work to support their go-to-market plans. Finally, you will be a member of the cross-company creative leadership team, and help set the tone for the creative culture at Square.
