Square's Payment Platform is an open, global financial services platform for developers who serve our merchants. It provides the necessary components to manage identity, process payments across multiple channels, hold and transfer funds, and provide accounting, reconciliation, and reporting in a secure and compliant way. Within the Payment Platform, we are looking for an Engineering Manager for our Payment Connections Core group. This team builds software to implement Square's partnerships with acquirers and payment networks, making engineering decisions to enhance our margins and help us help our sellers get paid quickly and reliably.
In this role, you'll report to the Engineering Director of Payment Connections and Pricing. You'll guide a 4-7 person engineering team as they build out the core functionality to connect our seller APIs through to financial institutions. You'll develop efficient, secure, safe processes, ensuring the engineering team operates with high velocity, ownership, and accountability to our customers and other groups at Square. You'll export the team's best practices to the rest of Square and support other teams that operate high availability services, seller APIs, and financial networking.

Anticipate future projects for our teams based on what can be a changing set of requirements.
Work with product management, design, senior engineering and product leadership, and your peers to develop the strategy for your team.
Learn and promote Square engineering practices.
BA/BS degree or equivalent practical, working experience (8+ years preferred).
Experience designing and building large, highly available backend systems.
2+ years of experience as a Software Engineering Manager.
Experience leading Agile teams.
[Bonus] Experience with payment processing and the payment industry in general.
