Senior Network Security Engineer

  • San Francisco, CA
  • Full-time

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

Square's business depends on the trust of our point-of-sale merchants and Cash App customers. Network Security is a new team being formed to take ownership of network security across the company. As a Senior Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for Square's network security across multiple production and corporate environments in the cloud and on-prem.

You will:

  • Proactively harden and defend Square's on-prem and cloud networks.

  • Work closely with the operational network teams, and ensure that they have secure-by-default systems.

  • Use your technical expertise to cultivate pragmatic engineering decision-making and sustain high engineering standards.

  • Occasional travel within the USA and Canada may be required.

We value engineers who:

  • Have 7+ years total experience in tech.

  • Have real-world experience as a network engineer with at least a moderate-sized (hundreds of devices) operational network.

  • Have real-world experience as a security engineer.

  • Work well cross-functionally, and can communicate with audiences who may not have a security background.
