Product Marketing Manager, Business Banking

  • Full-time

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

We are looking for someone to join Square as a Product Marketing Manager on the business banking team to oversee the marketing strategy for products that touch millions of sellers. We are building tools to help small businesses manage their cash flow and we are looking for someone who is keen on finding new growth levers for products and creative opportunities to promote adoption across multiple banking products. You have a passion for understanding our sellers and their segmentation, represent their voice in product discussions, and understand product strategy and positioning.

You will:

  • Be the trusted voice of sellers by surfacing qualitative and quantitative insights to shape the product direction, marketing messaging, and seller segmentation for Transfer products
  • Identify and determine target customers, their needs, and how products will meet those needs
  • Partner with product management, design and engineering to establish the strategy, roadmap and success metrics for related products and experiences, ensuring product market fit and long-term lifecycle management across banking products
  • Review competitive offerings and create ongoing differentiation
  • Lead the ideation and execution of campaigns that increase growth for Transfer products, partnering with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Design, Legal, Creative, Channel experts, and Marketing Operations
  • Drive the creative development process for marketing materials by working with Marketing Design, Copywriting, Product, Channel experts, and Legal to develop compelling, and unique marketing collateral across channels
  • Produce data-driven hypotheses for improving marketing performance, execute A/B tests, and apply knowledge of basic statistics (e.g. sample size, significance) to separate signal from noise
  • Conceive of acquisition and lifecycle marketing campaigns, and identify goals and key performance indicators for programs

Qualifications

You have:

  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of marketing experience (ideally in a product marketing role) or related field with a Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a Master's degree
  • Experience working with product management, engineering, analytics and design to grow products
  • Experience developing strategic direction and building go-to-market plans
  • Experience communicating to senior leadership and influencing a cross-functional team
  • Experience working with creative teams and marketing channel specialists
  • Experience marketing to small and/or large businesses or in consumer tech
  • Experience with marketing automation platforms (Iterable, Marketo, Hubspot, or related), testing platforms (Optimizely, Visual Website Optimizer, Bounce Exchange, etc.), and analytics tools (Looker, Amplitude, Google Analytics, Adobe Site Catalyst, etc.) a plus
  • Genuine interest in and curiosity about Fintech
