Senior Technical Program Manager, Security Programs

  • Full-time

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

The Security organization protects Square while allowing the company to take principled risks. We are focused on scaling our impact, and a large part of this is building the Program Management Organization (PMO) to support programs for Security. This includes ensuring highly matrixed teams have the support they need to run smoothly, and predictably all while minimizing friction. A structured approach to established and new programs will be essential to our long-term success. We are looking for a Lead Technical Program Manager to join our Security Programs team to manage a few of our most foundational programs, working with a team of direct reports, in addition to security and product teams to improve the security posture of Square.

You'll report to the lead of Security Programs, and will be directly responsible for setting and delivering program and execution strategies across teams for the program(s). You will ensure that our security programs are comprehensive in our ability to enable discovery, detection, triage, assessment, remediation, and verification at scale across Square's hardware and software assets. You will manage customer and team relationships to effectively promote the implementation of program goals with each business unit, with a focus on continuously improving our ability to protect, respond, and scale across our ecosystem of startups.

Qualifications

You will:

  • Manage large-scale security programs across Square;

  • Develop vision, roadmaps, and plans with senior management to refine and expand the existing security programs, evaluate existing tools and processes, and close any gaps identified;

  • Build relationships and engage customers, partners, and company partners to arrive at solutions that meet requirements, while factoring in technical considerations and strategic goals

  • Mature and support your team, empowering them to create high-quality solutions, all while growing their careers;

  • Manage diverse relationships and work with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Analytics teams, to provide recommendations that help teams with their program deliverables

  • Drive continuous improvement for current asset management assessment coverage depth, quality, and capabilities through data-driven decisions to create new solutions, services, or processes.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in coverage of intelligence and monitoring, and then use relationships and matrixed teams to deliver a well-defined and well-communicated plan

You have:

  • 8+ or more years of product/project management experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Security Program Management (e.g., Vulnerability Management, Vendor Security) as a lead, TPM, or Engineering Manager.

  • Experience delivering security products or projects with technical teams;

  • Experience in setting up project schedules and breaking down engineering work across multiple teams and delivery dates

  • Seek divergent requirements from different organizations to provide solutions that best fit the business needs

Even Better:

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, etc)
