Experimentation Manager, Marketing Technology

  • Full-time
  • Alternate Location: Atlanta, United States

Company Description

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Capital, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. We’re working to find new and better ways to help businesses succeed on their own terms—and we’re looking for people like you to help shape tomorrow at Square.

Job Description

The Automation organization enables and measures the unified customer journey, intelligently empowering customers through Square's ecosystem of products. Marketing Technology (MarTech) is an essential team within the Automation organization and is focused on making growth and analytics more effective and efficient. MarTech binds the tools, technology, data, and individual team initiatives across Square to advance growth of the entire ecosystem. MarTech is a new and growing team with the opportunity to promote massive change at Square.

We are looking for an experienced tech leader (just like you!) to develop and scale Square's experimentation program. You will use your program leadership and expertise in experimentation to drive significant impact on individual team's ability to rapidly test, learn, and iterate, while unlocking new opportunities for Square's go-to-market strategies.

You will:

  • Be the subject matter expert in experimentation (A/B, multivariate, etc.); understand our existing platform and how to optimize it
  • Guide long-term thinking and progress in an ambiguous and rapidly-changing space
  • Work with Product Management, senior leadership, and your peers, to develop the strategy for the future of experimentation at Square
  • Onboard new teams and individuals to our experimentation platform (Optimizely)
  • Define, educate, and evangelize best practices to ensure teams are set up for success
  • Oversee the governance of Square's experimentation program in partnership with partners
  • Coordinate experimentation strategy and technical trainings sessions with our Optimizely partners
  • Host hypothesis generation and experimentation ideation sessions to help teams build and prioritize their testing roadmap
  • Increase experiment velocity by developing efficient processes and automating wherever possible
  • Develop a center-of-excellence among key stakeholders to enable the program to scale responsibly
  • Increase visibility by communicating results and learnings of individual experiments, as well as the overall program with stakeholders

Qualifications

You have:

  • 5+ years of experimentation experience (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years leading and growing a company-wide experimentation program with multiple stakeholders
  • Expertise in implementing, running, and analyzing A/B tests
  • Deep understanding of the tools that power marketing automation, experimentation, personalization, attribution, and analytics
  • Strong technical skills - don't have to be an engineer but can navigate APIs, databases, and system architecture
  • Great stakeholder management and collaboration with product managers, data, and marketing professionals

Even better:

  • Experience with Optimizely Web & Full Stack
  • Startup experience: technical founder/co-founder, growth, or data roles
  • Product Management or Growth Marketing experience
